The half-eaten Lotto ticket

Greetings I am a number 26 lotto ticket, and this is the story about how I got lost, and my owner won

the lotto!

It was 6:00 pm on Saturday 15th August 1987 and Mya Fields was waiting anxiously in front of the telly for the results of the third lottery in the history of New Zealand. I had been taken by the dog Grey a while ago and now I was shoulderless and stuck under the dog's HUGE bed (for a more detailed story of this go see: How my shoulder got eaten). Gleeful newsagents were about to announce the lotto winners, their faces full of delight. A thick blanket of stars now covered the once clear cerulean sky. A blazing sun was slowly fading out of sight on the edge of the horizon.

“Hello and welcome to lotto NZ, let’s see who got lucky today!” announced one agent.

“Here we go,” “numbers; 5, 11, 18, 22, 26 and 39 you have won this week’s lotto!” another one exclaimed.

“Now for the NZ strike winners after the break…”

“Welcome back!” “Time for NZ strike winners… First, number 38! And, 11! 39 again! 18! And last but not least, 26! Shouted the chief announcer.

“Looks like numbers 39 and 26 are quite fortunate this week,” Declared another.

“Wait I’m sure my number was 26!” Mya said in a worried tone. “Let me check my ticket”... “what where

is it, I wanted to keep it safe, so I put it in the back pocket of my bag, AND IT IS NOT THERE!!!!”

“It’s ok honey you’ll find it,” Gladys Mya’s grandma muttered shakily. Grandma Gladys was wondering where the dog was, I knew exactly where he was after all he was the reason I got lost and bitten. “GREAYYYY come to mama old Gladys needs a big hug,” she said.

It was then that the search began…

Every inch of the house was checked (except the dog's little house in a separate room just off of the

house which was where I was mmpphh) and there was no evidence of me anywhere. Then Gladys came looking for Grey and suddenly… “Myaaa! I think I see it!” she shouted

Was this it, would she find me?

“Well, what are you doing talking to me about it, hurry pick it up and check!!”

So that was what she did.

Suddenly I was heaved off of the ground underneath the hefty dog's bed and stared at in shock.

“Mya, this is not good!”

“What is not good Grandma?” Mya said worriedly.

“The ticket honey, it’s here but…”

Mya ran over, she was horrified!

The next day (after researching and researching and researching) Mya felt a sense of relief because

her ticket / me was still eligible so she still won 3 million dollars!!!!
